Customized Vehicle Interiors - 3 Main Things To Check
Customized Auto Interiors - Three Key Things to Check
If you are planning to have any custom car interior work done on your car, there're three traits you have to be on the lookout for in whatever specialist you choose to do the work for you. Those three traits are:
1) Attention to Detail. Let's face it, getting a custom car interior is not one of life's requirements. It is an extra. A perk. Something you have decided to treat yourself to, and due to that, if you are gonna spend the money, you want to make sure the job gets done correctly. No detail is too small, right? Picture yourself out in California, getting something custom like what Chip Foose designs. Would he skimp? No! So if the "look" you are going for needs monograms that match exactly with the car's logo, or an accurate kind of stitching, then you do not want that stuff to be overlooked or hurried.
2) Thoroughness. Related to the above, but a category unto itself. Again, if you have determined to pay for a service like this, then the last thing you want is anyone taking shortcuts with the work, as this will invariably reduce the overall quality. I am talking about stuff like door panel rebuilds. Again, picture yourself chasing one of those solution Chip Foose designs. You might not be getting anything so elaborate, but you still want that sort of relentless thoroughness. Some workmen will leave bits of the old material in place and simply glue the new stuff over it. The problem, certainly, is that the adhesive does not stick appropriately, and in a year or two, you get rattles galore as stuff starts falling off. Not good, and not what you wanted when you shelled out your hard earned money, so look for a guy who is not gonna take shortcuts like that, but who is going to do a good, thorough job for you.
3) And ultimately, you want someone who provides a wide variety of services. There's no point in having to take your vehicle to half a dozen places to get it just the way you want it, and it tends to work against itself anyway ("too many cooks in the kitchen," you might say), so you must find someone who does it all. At a minimum, if your custom vehicle interior experts can't, or is not willing to do the following:
Fundamental upholstery fix/replacement
Custom seat cover design
Customized floor mats
Headliner changing/Visors & Consoles
Trunks & Interiors (absolutely anything inside the vehicle)
Floorboard repair/replacement
Dashboards
Door Panels
Console buildouts
Customized Covers
And
Convertible tops (fix/replacement)
Then you should possibly keep looking until you find someone who will do all those things, and more!
There are a lot of people for whom a car is simply a means to get from place to place, and there is nothing wrong with that, but if your auto (or truck, or motorcycle, or RV, or whatever you drive) is a lot more than that for you, and if you intend to make aftermarket modifications to make it really stand out, then great care needs to be taken when selecting a Custom Auto Interior Experts to do the work. You may be chasing anything fancy like the vehicles that Chip Foose designs, or your tastes may run more simply. Anyway though, if you do not choose your experts with care, you risk wasting many time and money, and set yourself up for disappointment.
